Dupe alert! L'oreal Revitalift wet cleansing towelettes vs. Koh Gen Do Cleansing Spa Water Cloths

I know I was JUST raving about the Koh Gen Do Cleansing wipes and how I wouldn't go back to drugstore... So my hopes weren't high when I picked up the L'oreal Revitalift wipes from Ulta because of a Buy 2 Get 1 Free Deal.

What I love about these wipes are how moisturizing and wet they are. They are soothing and effective. The one con is that they leave a film on your skin. That is probably to promote the anti-aging benefits of the product and I don't mind too much because I always follow up with a toner anyway...

The price difference is another factor to take into consideration. The Cleansing Spa Water cloths can run you between $13-$39. While the L'oreal costs around $7.

I think that the formula is worth a try. Even though I will be mainly buying my Koh Gen Do because my skin is so sensitive. One night I had to really rub my eyes with the L'oreal to get some tough mascara and liner off and the next morning my eyes were a bit irritated.

That doesn't really mean the product is bad because I have suuuper sensitive skin.

How to Archer: The Ultimate Guide to Espionage, Style, Women, and Cocktails Ever Written

It took me soooo long to finish this kindle read. I definitely got it because I was going through some Archer withdrawal. Archer on FX is one of my FAVORITE shows.

Since episode one, I was hooked. Its not so much of a funny show (really the only shows I find funny are Bob's Burgers and Modern Family) but I am so entertained because I think its a smart show.

That's why I had such high hopes for this book. Warning, this is not really a novelization of the entire show. It is more focused on Archer the character.

It is literally a how to be archer. It was entertaining during the first half then after that, it just droned on and on. it went from his opinions to which country has the most beautiful women to drink recipes.

All in all, I seriously say past on this.

Maybelline FitMe Stick Foundation

This whole FitMe line is hit or miss with me. Albeit, I do really like the FitMe powder, the FitMe concealer is nothing but the devil. So when I picked up the new Stick foundation I really didn't know what to expect. I got it for around $3 with coupons so if it was bad... it wouldn't be the end of the world.

The foundation claims to be "shine-free." I do not get excessively oily but I do have a T-zone that I sometimes worry about. With this foundation, it did keep the oil at bay so I would recommend for oily skin girls.

As you can see (or maybe you can't... I have been using it for a couple of weeks), the core of the foundation is supposed to be an 'anti-shine' primer. I thought this was so cool but as I started to use the gimmicky product, I realized I HATE the consistency. It wasn't as firm as the stick foundations I've used in the past and I wasn't completely sure how I was supposed to blend it in. In the end, I ended up just using my fingers.

The longevity was decent. Because it was anti-shine, it didn't break down like other foundations would after a long day. It wasn't necessarily long wearing but it stayed longer that most drugstore products.

I didn't love the color match for me. I wasn't able to get my hands on the darkest shade so I got 340. It looked a little ashy on me so I mostly concentrated the foundation on the center of my face.

All in all, I don't particularly love this foundation but I can see why someone would. It is affordable and it does keep shine away. I just didn't like the consistency and the color match. I don't even use it as a foundation anymore... I mostly use in as a tinted primer and it works great that way.

Netflix Review: This is 40

Knocked up is literally one of my favorite movies... So when I first heard about the 'unofficial' sequel to it, I almost jumped up with excitement.

That excitement weaned the second I actually starting watching it.

It stars Leslie Mann (the director's wife), Paul Rudd and appearances Melissa McCarthy (love her), Megan Fox, Jason Segel, Chris O'Dowd, and Lena Dunham (LOOOOOOVE HER.)

It is about  a couple's realization of where their life and marriage is when they finally turn 40.

Quick review: what I liked was the familiar conversational humor that Apatow has perfected since like... Freaks and Geeks. (Oh God, I'm still waiting for a reunion.) I liked that he used his own adorable kids in the movie.

What I didn't like: the quirky humor and plot lines bordered on random in this film.

Fashion 101: Mixing prints

I am personally NOT a fan of this fashion trend. Even though I am into beauty, I can't really seem to have a firm hold on fashion. (Especially when it comes to trends like this.) Why would you want to look like you had to throw everything thing in your closet on at the same time?

But the fashion magazines seem to be crying out in unison that this is an acceptable look for the street. Celebrities like Solange Knowles have made this the quirky girl's uniform.

I mean, sure, of course it would work on her right?

I admit, there are days when I have left the house to lazy to coordinate a proper outfit. On those occasions, I try to convince myself that I'm "mixing prints" but how do I convince onlookers that? Hold up a sign?

I have heard that the key to making this work for the average man is to pair a smaller print with a bigger print.
So this scarf could work with this poncho... But what do I know?

All in all, this difficult trend should be saved for the celebrity, the runway, and the brave.

Book Review: The Boys (vol. 2)

I'm not a HUGE graphic novel fan but I had such high hope for this series. The first book in this 8 part series I devoured in one sitting so when I got my hands on the second one, it was a bit anti-climatic.

All of the old character are back and they are still in the business of policing those reckless super heroes. In the second installment, the group has to figure out a murder that might have been conducted by a oversexed Batman-like "supe."

What I don't like about this book in particular is that the story is LITERALLY everywhere. I didn't fully get what was going on half the time. This makes me a little hesitant to pick up vol. 3.

Revlon Whismical

I've never been more on the fence about a polish than this one. As you can see, the bottle looks like loads of fun. It's a milky mint color with lavender and teal hexagonal glitter suspended into it. there are also smaller specs of similar colors floating in there too.
The first time I saw it I desperately wanted it but the second I put it on I realized how disappointing a shade this was. The pictures above are FIVE coats of polish. Needless to say, that manicure never really dried. I was just so shocked that the color was so sheer. I'll retry the polish over a base coat of some sort but I don't want anything to take away from the color itself.

Maybelline ColorShow Metallics in Bold Gold

I know this might seem a little strange but this polish was the most unforgiving color that I have ever had the displeasure to put on my nails. If you notice, this cheetah and rhinestone design is bomb but I couldn't get over the streaks and unsightly marks this formula showed off. Is it corny to say that this color 'showed' too much?
You can see on my middle finger that I have a press-on nail to match the length of my other nails... That is usually not a problem with other polish but this metallic lacquer made all the harsh filing I did to get that press-on smooth a little too visible.
I don't know, I'm not too versed in the world of metallic polishes, maybe they are all like this.

The color on the other hand, is also not my favorite. It is a gold but has a odd (very fine) silvery shimmer to it.

YSL CRÈME DE BLUSH Soft Blush

Hey guys, I know it has been quite a while since I have done a post. I wanted to come at you with this new blush I have been using by Yves Saint Laurent. It is their creme de blush, I bought it at Sephora and it was $38. Yes, it is a bit of a splurge for just a cheek product but I just had to have it. I think it was this pretty gold packaging. All in all, for dark skin sister like me I think I would have to say pass on this product (or at least this color, I got the velvety peach).

As you can see, it comes in this gorgeous gold plated package that looks really good on your vanity.

The texture was a soft almost moussy feel. When you applied it, it reminded me of the Maybelline bouncy blushes. They both rub to a powder finish.
For $38 you get .19 oz. The product is surrounded with an acrlic casing making it appear like a lot of product.
So this is what the color looks like. For anybody lighter, it will look like a more natural flush of color. On me however, I just use it as a base to layer other cheek colors on top of.

The color is 1 Velvety Peach - peachy pink. I thought it was going to be sort of like a Nars Orgasm but it is less pigmented than that.

Sally Hansen Big Money

So I am officially on my glitter kick. I know it is fall and I'm supposed to be following the whole dark color rule but... guess what? RULES ARE MEANT TO BE BROKEN! Big money is an ok glitter. As is it is getting a little on the older side, it is getting on the thicker side. That is a little annoying because that means I can't layer it over other polishes. This is after two coats, and I find that the color dries a little more matte than I would like. It's a glitter polish! It is supposed to be beyond sparkly... but it is a little more subdued than you would think. I used some black stripers on my nail for some fun.

It is a gold chunky polish with purple accents.

Revlon Posh

This color works so well on my press-ons. I remember when I put it on my natural nail, its was chipping like crazy! On my press-ons it look great (but what nail polish chips on press-ons?)
posh is not that best formula.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Gentle Daily Cleanser

SOOOOOOOO not feeling this cleanser. I guess the fact that it is says that it is a "gentle" cleanser would indicate to me that it isn't as sudsy as I am used to. It is almost like washing your face with lotion. I would recommend this for girls with really dry skin. I have normal/combination so I do not mind. There is also a slight smell to this product that I can't put my finger on. This will not be a repurchase for me.

Revlon Extravagant

Again, please excuse my rachet cuticles. So I am NOT a fan of this color. I'm wearing press ons (my nails were just not the length I wanted them to be and I just was sick of waiting for them to grow out) and it STILL is chipping. I am not loving this forumla of the old revlon polishes. My accent nail is just a bunch of strippers I got from amazon. (not really a fan of them). It is pretty in the bottle, its a light purple toned pink but all-in-all, i'd pass on this color.
